I have a vision for Hobart’s civic heartland which encompasses the Treasury Building, Franklin Square, Town Hall, Dunn Place and City Hall. This part of Hobart tells an extraordinary story, yet it is fragmented and underused. Dunn Place deserves more than being a bitumen car park and City Hall should be enjoyed every day.
We should be thinking about the precinct as a whole — creating spaces for Tasmanian produce, community activity, arts, events, creativity and innovation. Imagine a phenomenal library, arts and culture hub, relocated visitor centre and expanded museum that operates seven days a week.
